I am a Yorkshire based landscape photographer and I have always had a keen interest in landscape photography.
I love exploring the great outdoors, whether it be on foot or by bicycle, preferably with a camera in my bag..
Wherever my feet or wheels take me I am always looking for new images. I don’t really have any hard and fast rules, it’s more about whether something catches my eye and then being able to replicate what I am seeing.
I couldn’t really describe my style and probably don’t have one. I remember my early years, I would use my camera to catalogue an entire journey. The photographs would be technically acceptable but held no interest/composition or story. Over time I have developed a more critical eye. My approach to taking images today is so far from how I used to shoot. Nowadays, I will sometimes return home with no images or maybe just one or two. Sometimes you can be in the most beautiful location with great light, but there is just no image/composition. I would, 'once upon a time', get so upset with this scenario, Today, being at the location means far more than the photograph, an image is a bonus.
My Portfolio showcases such a small percentage of my image library and I will change the portfolio as and when my mood swings and favours a different state of mind.
Photography for me is a medium that helps me to see the landscape and the affect that nature has upon it. The reason this website is here is so that you can witness what is out there for us all to see. I hope you enjoy my work and please contact me if you would like to ask any questions.
Equipment
My equipment (Camera/Computer & Software) was state of the art about 14 years ago.
I would love a shiny new camera and computer, but would it benefit me? Probably not at the moment.
This does mean that the editing I do is minimal as the computer grinds to a halt if I try and do anything too fancy.
